Ginga. Rhythm. play. come train capoeira

Capoeira is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. Born from the strength and ingenuity of African descendants in Brazil, it is a living art form that blends martial arts, dance, music, and community into one powerful practice. Quick kicks, fluid spins, dynamic footwork — capoeira challenges your body and frees your spirit.

At Capoeira Canavial, we welcome all ages and experience levels. Whether you’re stepping into the roda for the first time or deepening a lifelong practice, you’ll find a family here.

Who we are

Capoeira Canavial is a group rooted in Minneapolis, MN and Fort Collins, CO, dedicated to practicing and promoting the Brazilian martial art of capoeira. Our name carries meaning — canavial is the Portuguese word for a sugar plantation, the very fields where African slaves in Brazil were known to practice capoeira and maculelê.

We honor that history in everything we do. Led by Mestre Lucas Corvo, a master with over thirty years of experience rooted in Bahia, Brazil, Capoeira Canavial is more than a school — it is a living community built on tradition, respect, and joy.
